Taxus Baccata is a fantastic evergreen conifer which is native to Britain. This medium sized tree is bushy and dense in habit, making for fantastic hedging or screening. Its foliage is comprised of rows of straight, dark green needle-like leaves which form on two rows upon each twig. Young plants can tolerate hard pruning making the Yew a popular choice for topiary. Insignificant yellow flowers may be present on female plants in Spring, which if pollinated will produce red berries. Birds are attracted to the fruits and will enjoy nesting in the dense foliage. A recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit for its outstanding properties, the Taxus Buccata is excellent at blocking noise, wind and pollution.
