Anemone x Hybrida ‘Whirlwind’ is a variety of Japanese Anemone with tall stems and large semi-double pure white flowers with yellow centres. The ‘Whirlwind’ is often still in flower when many other perennials are beginning to fade. The snow white flowers sit amongst vine-like dark green foliage which add interest when the plant is not in flower. Once flowering has finished in Autumn cut away the stems to encourage new flowers for the following year. This Anemone makes a beautiful cut flower and is resistant to most insects and diseases. Butterflies and other pollinators are attractive to the nectar rich flowers which perform best in full sun or partial shade. The Anemone x Hybrida ‘Whirlwind’ makes a charming addition to your garden. This perennial dies back to ground level each year in Autumn, with new growth appearing in Spring. Use a winter mulch or multi purpose compost in colder regions, particularly if planting in the Autumn.
